Stacie's Warrior Journey
In October of 2020, Stacie was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Cody and Stacie spent almost two years back and forth between Los Angeles, CA, and Portland, OR for treatment. In November of 2021, they celebrated being cancer free, only to learn that their journey would start again. Stacie began feeling pressure in her chest and when she brought this concern to the doctors, they ignored her repeatedly. Cody and Stacie were persistent and advocated for continued testing, but they focused all their attention on her heart so all her test results indicated she was "fine." Their insurance finally gave pushback and said they would no longer approve any other tests without an X-ray, which showed two large masses in her left lung.
Stacie's Triple Negative Breast Cancer had metastasized to her left lung. Because of the wasted time spent focusing on her heart, the tumors had grown to an abnormally large size and were continuing to grow at an excessive rate. Cody and Stacie were told that there were no treatment options and that was it. Stacie was terminal.
Of course, that's not acceptable - cancer cannot win. Over the next few weeks, Stacie and Cody researched and interviewed every doctor that offered alternative treatment options until they found one, however, insurance wouldn't approve it. This is where we need the Stacie Strong Team to step in and help! Please donate, purchase apparel, or share on social media to get the word out!
