The 2020 Birdies for Charity event was a great success as the Northern Ohio PGA raised over $60,000 for five charitable causes including: Clearview H.O.P.E., Evans Scholar Foundation, The Turn, Ohio Girls Golf Foundation, and the Cleveland Clinic Challenge Golf. In addition, the Toledo Chapter was able to donate money to the Findlay Area Golf Association, Lima Junior Golf Association, and Toledo Junior Golf Association. Thirty-one NOPGA professionals made 261 birdies for charity to help this cause!
The 2021 Smucker’s Birdies for Charity event will be played at Oberlin Golf Club on Monday, September 27, 2021. Professionals will once again play 72 holes of golf in an effort to make as many birdies as possible. Prior to the event, our professionals will ask members at their clubs to sponsor them; these sponsorships can be “per birdie” or just a flat donation! In 2021, our goal is to exceed what we raised in 2020. We are already well on our way as Smucker’s agreed to be the title sponsor of the event for the second year!
$60,000+ RAISED IN 2020The Northern Ohio PGA Section Foundation is a 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are tax deductible.
The Northern Ohio PGA Section Foundation was created for the purpose of administering the charitable and philanthropic affairs on behalf of the golf professionals within the Northern Ohio PGA Section. These affairs include, but are not limited to, development, promotion and growth of adult and junior golf programs, scholarship programs for children, programs for minority and underprivileged youth in Northern Ohio, and contributions to allied charitable organizations.
One new initiative that the Section Foundation has started is Clubs Fore Kids where we provide golf sets to children financially in need who would like to pick up the game. The Section Foundation is also proud to begin giving college scholarships to juniors who would like to continue their education.
